The City of Dumaguete passed a resolution commending several beneficiaries of the Educational Assistance Program who graduated with honors in this school year 2018-2019.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and Vice-Mayor Franklin Esmeña Jr. congratulated the outstanding students and the other graduates for their industry and accomplishment.

The beneficiaries who graduated with flying colors are: Mariz Alcancia: BS Geology-NORSU-Magna Cum Laude, YMCA Outstanding Student Awardee and Presidential List Awardee; Queen Pearl Canque – AB HM-NORSU-Magna Cum Laude, YMCA Outstanding Student Awardee and Presidential List Awardee; Graciella Theresa Prasco – AB Social Science – NORSU- Magna Cum Laude, YMCA Outstanding Student Awardee and Presidential List Awardee; Gabriel Leonardo Sienes – BS Biology- Silliman University – Cum Laude and Jeremae Monteza: BSBA – NORSU – YMCA Outstanding Student Awardee and Presidential List Awardee.

The Educational Assistance Program aims to ensure a greater number of poor but deserving students opportunity to better themselves through education. There are currently 214 college students who receive financial assistance from the city government every semester.
