WALA NAY BAYAD ANG MARRIAGE LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE SA KASALANG BAYAN
City waives license fee in mass wedding
To further encourage couples to participate in the mass wedding slated on February 15, 2019, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has instructed the Local Civil Registrar to waive the processing fees for marriage certificates or license.
Mayor Remollo has also enlisted the help of the Punong Barangays to identify and encourage couples who are living in cohabitation or even those who are not to register before the deadline for the second mass wedding he will be officiating at the City Quadrangle.
The first one was held last year at the Pantawan sa Boulevard that involved 73 couples of different ages and nationalities. It was also Mayor Remollo who first held a kasalang bayan during his first term 18 years ago.
As a lawyer, Mayor Remollo emphasizes the importance for couples to legitimize their union and by extension their children.
In order to join the free mass wedding, the Office of the Local Civil Registrar has called upon the interested live-in couples and others who are not living in cohabitation including foreigners and residents outside of Dumaguete to submit all documents on or before February 8, 2019 for cohabiting parties and February 1, 2019 for non-cohabiting parties.
Among the documents required for live-in couples are: birth certificates; certificate of no marriage to be obtained from the Philippine Statistics Authority at P 210.00 fee; affidavit of cohabitation to be obtained from the Public Attorney’s Office for free and marriage certificate at the Local Civil Registrar’s Office.
For non-cohabiting parties: birth certificates; advice of parents for persons aging 21-24 years old; consent of parents for persons aging 18-20 years old; valid identification cards; pre-marriage and family planning seminar at the POPCOM Office and marriage license.
For foreigners: valid identification card of the contracting parties; certificate of legal capacity to be obtained from the Embassy of country of origin based in the Philippines; if widowed or widower, death certificate of the spouse; if divorced, original copy of Divorce decree; Certificate of no Marriage; couple’s pre-marriage and family planning seminar and processing fee for marriage license at P 300.00.
Once all required documents are submitted to LCR kindly bring along the sponsors so they could already sign the marriage license before the date of the wedding.
