Two full span concrete bridges costing a total of P 75 million have been approved by the City Council in a special session today (December 28) in response to the request of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to be fully funded by the city government.

Mayor Remollo lauded the members of the City Council for the quick approval of the two priority projects funded solely by the local government.

Specifically, P 25 million was allocated for the bridge at the back of Foundation University a few weeks ago followed by another appropriation of P 50 million for the bridge traversing Banica River connecting Barangays Batinguel and Bagacay (Near BIR) including acquisition of road-right-of-way and other incidental expenses approved today.

Public bidding for the two projects will be conducted in the first quarter of 2019. These two bridges will replace the dikes to improve traffic situation and ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians even during floods.

Also approved in the special session was an appropriation of P 25 million for lot acquisition and construction of multi-purpose centers for 5 to 6 barangays and an additional P 3.9 million for Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund.
