Less cases of theft, motornapping, physical injuries, robbery while rape was steady at 9 cases and 3 homicide.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo commended the Dumaguete Police Station under Chief-of-Police Supt. Jonathan Pineda for cutting the number of crimes by almost 39% compared to last year. He assures the industrious members of the PNP and other volunteers of his continued support in all anti-crime initiatives and measures.
There are 1, 992 crime incidents reported from January-September 2017 compared to just 1, 222 in the same period in 2018. This translates to 770 less crimes representing a decrease of 38.65%.
Based on the report, from January to October 2018 some P 3.4 million worth of illegal drugs were seized by the PNP in 61 operations across the city. This is higher than last year’s P 816, 678.00 in 30 operations for the same period (January-October 2017).
Pineda attributed the significant reduction of crimes to the intensified Oplan Sita from June 26 to October 30, 2018 that has so far netted 16 drugs personalities and some 2, 141 vehicles were impounded thus preventing further accidents in the city roads.
