Officials from the Philippine Long Distance Company and the City Government in today’s have finalized the details so that the service provider can go full blast in its work for the installation of 330 modern high definition cctv cameras for the entire city this December.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo also decided that the command center will be located inside the City Hall compound for easy access and high security.
Next week, PLDT and City Government will request the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative II for the free use of their electrical posts so that the cameras can be mounted safely and strategically. Both the LGU and PLDT are optimistic that the NORECO management will approve the request to promote the general welfare.
The final contract between PLDT and the city government will be signed possibly next month. PLDT should be able to finish installing all the CCTVs June 2019 based on the contract.
The city has become the host of major regional, national and international sports tourism events that attracted large and diverse crowds throughout the year. The presence of CCTVs will enhance the monitoring of peace and order situation in the city, boost traffic management and for disaster preparedness and response.
