Officials from the Philippine Retirement Authority engaged dozens of foreign retirees in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental on Thursday to re-orient them on the status and developments of their Special Resident Retiree’s Visa.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo pledged to work in close coordination with PRA under General Manager Bienvenido K. Chy on how to further promote the rights and welfare of the retirees here.
Recently, PRA awarded Dumaguete City with the distinction as the Best Place to Retire in the Philippines based on the criteria set by the United Nations, International Living, World Health Organization, and other international organizations. Some of the factors for judging include cost of living, friendliness of locals, climate, health care, and peace and order.
The activity feature speakers from PRA namely Atty. Antonio Rivera, Mariel Jade Monteagudo, Francis Jeffrey Marasigan, Pedro Del Espiritu, Orlando Habitan and Lerma G. Abesamis.
The speakers also fielded questions from the retirees on ID renewal, re-stamping, certification of membership, bank transfers, property ownership, withdrawal of deposits, conversion of time deposit into active investments, cancellation of SRRVisa and Other services (e.g. assistance to NBI, LTO, DOF).
PRA will soon establish a satellite office in Dumaguete City to directly and swiftly respond to request for assistance of the retirees.
The Philippine Retirement Authority is an attached agency under the Department of Tourism with the prime objective to develop and promote the Philippines as retirement haven as a means of accelerating the social and economic development of the country.”
