Philippine Ports Authority Manager Sarah Mijares expressed profound gratitude to Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and the city government for the full support and assistance to the hundreds of passengers that were stranded for several days.

Mayor Remollo instructed the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to deploy its personnel, vehicles and other logistics to assist the passengers until the authorities allowed their trip to proceed today.

Some 878 stranded passengers bound for Manila were sheltered at the Dumaguete City gymnasium as their trip was postponed after Typhoon Ompong slammed Luzon.
