With a record 10, 823 jobless provided with employment in just 11 months, the Public Employment Service Office of Dumaguete City has been adjudged as the best in Central Visayas Region among other component cities.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo congratulated the industrious staff of PESO with its Manager Maria Socorro Mira for their toil and efforts to match thousands of job seekers with local and foreign companies that are also searching for the appropriate persons they can hire.
PESO has contributed immensely not only providing people with jobs but for the local industries and companies to grow and prosper, which would provide the city government more revenues to fund new development projects and basic services.
In an earlier report Mira bared that 10, 823 applicants were hired during a series of recruitment activities by the PESO from July 2017 to June 2018 in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment.
Being a regional awardee, Dumaguete City will vie for the national award against 16 other regions, but Mira is keeping her expectation moderate considering the presence of other bigger component cities.
The awarding ceremony will be held at IC3 Convention Center in Cebu City, tomorrow. DOLE Region 7 Director Johnson G. Canete said that the awarding for the 2017 Regional Search for Best PESO also coincided with the celebration of the National Tech-Voc Day.
