Secretary Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) was in Dumaguete recently to announce the upcoming establishment of Malasakit Center in Negros.

While he was in the city, thousands of people gathered at the Perdices Coliseum to celebrate Nutri-Fest 2018 also urge “Kuya Bong,” as he is fondly known, to “listen to the will of the people” and run for a seat in the senate in 2019.

For his part, Kuya Bong said that it is too early to talk about politics and the final decision will be up to Tatay Digong, “Trabaho lang muna po ako.”

Tumutulong ako sa kampanya ni Presidente para labanan ang drugs, criminality and corruption.Trabaho lang din kaya ako nakikita sa publiko dahil my job is to help.” (My sole focus for now is on doing my job. I’m advancing the President’s campaign against drugs, criminality and corruption. It’s only because of my job to help that I’m usually seen in public.”)

The local Malasakit Center will be a one-stop shop comprised of different agencies which can provide help to families of patients who wish to settle medical expenses such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR), and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

Apart from the center, an ambulance that will provide free service will also be donated by the government.

SAP Bong Go noted that the ambulance will greatly benefit the locals as it takes one to two hours to reach the hospitals in the city at present.
