P 400, 000 BOUNTY OFFERED FOR ARREST OF JOURNALIST SESTOSO’S ASSAILANT
Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and local executives of Negros Oriental have raised P400,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of gunmen of broadcast journalist Edmund Sestoso.
Sec. Bong Go announced he is giving P200,000, while Gov. Roel Degamo of Negros Oriental and Mayor Felipe Remollo of Dumaguete City added P100,000 each.
The cash reward was announced during Go’s visit to Dumaguete today where he condoled with the Sestoso family.
Go also extended P20,000 financial assistance to the family of Sestoso and vows to give additional educational assistance to two of Sestoso’s children , Eden Valerie Sestoso, 11, and Ellah Bernadette Sestoso, 13, and incoming Grade 6 pupils.
He also promised Sestoso’s wife, Lourdes, not to worry about the burial expenses as he is also extending burial assistance.
This is the first time that senior cabinet officials visited a wake of slain mediaman which happened on the World Press Freedom Day celebration. Go is accompanied by PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar.
During his visit, Go reiterates the commitment of the Duterte administration to fight for the rights and welfare of the media.
In his meeting with AFP, NBI, and PNP officials, he directed them to make sure that justice is served on Sestoso’s death. (jct/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
