Gates Foundation optimistic that other cities and towns will emulate Dumaguete City’s septage treatment facility.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo noted that every month a group of officials from Local Government Units from all over the country would come and visit the facility during their study tours with the hope that similar facilities that will treat waste water will be established in other towns and cities. This could only mean more Filipinos having access to clean and treated water that would be good both for the health and environment.

Representatives of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Asian Development Bank lauded Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo for initiating the rehabilitation of the river control dike in Barangay Camanjac where the septage treatment plant is located.

Mayor Remollo in conversation with Dave Robbins and Brian Arbogast of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; Elma Morsheda and Professor Md. Mujibur Rahman of the Asian Development Bank. Former City Planning Officer Engr, Josie Antonio served as the local conduit of the visit.
