Athletes and officials led by City Schools Division Supt. Evangel M. Luminarias and Assistant Schools Division Supt. Neri C. Ojastro along with Councilors Michael Bandal and Manuel Arbon join the parade of delegations in the streets of Tagbilaran City during the formal opening of the Central Visayas Athletic Association (CVRAA) at the CPG Sports Complex and Main Grandstand, Sunday.
The 514-strong delegation of athletes and officials from various public and private elementary and high school in Dumaguete City, will compete in arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, chess, football, boxing, futsal, sepak takraw, archery softball, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis, volleyball and dancesport.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo urges the athletes to go all out as he also acknowledges the industrious and reliable Deped officials led by SDS Luminarias in making sure that the delegation remains safe, healthy and highly competitive.
This early, the athletes from Dumaguete City made their presence felt, after a two-year absence, by registering a string of victories against rival teams even before the opening ceremony of CVRAA.
Based on the initial reports team Dumaguete won against Cebu City in Baseball secondary 7-2 and Bohol province 8-3; Dumaguete also prevailed against Siquijor in basketball secondary and the game versus Guihulngan in Volleyball girls secondary.
