Watch out for the Christmas Tree Light up on Thursday!

Everyone is invited to witness the official light-up ceremony of the giant Christmas Tree to usher in the Yuletide Season on Thursday, December 7, 6:00PM at the M.L. Quezon Park to be led by City Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo and Vice-Mayor Franklin Esmeña along with the department heads and employees.

With this year’s theme “A Vintage Christmas” the program will feature the Dumaguete City Hall Choir and winners of the recent 69th Charter Anniversary contests. Among them, the Top 3 of the Dumaguete Idol 2017 – Jeva Villamil, Marichu Sabanal and Marlon Tizon, Bulilit Idol 2017- Jayrome Sevillejo, Duma Beat Dance Grand Champion – DOGS ON DUTY, Folk Dance Grand Champion from NORSU Senior High School and our Balitaw Grand Champion from NORSU. Miss Dumaguete Lexandrea dela Cerna will also grace the event.

The annual Christmas Tree Light Up is a community tradition actively participated by a diverse crowd and shall feature traditional presentation, songs and dances to celebrate the start of the holiday season.

This year’s Christmas tree will be illuminated by hundreds of running lights and topped with a star that serves as a beacon for everyone to come to the park or join the cherished tradition of Misa de Gallo in the nearby Dumaguete Cathedral. The tree also serves as a unifying emblem to peoples of all faiths in the city to celebrate Christmas with peace and love in their hearts.
