Architecture students of Foundation University with instructors presented to Mayor Felipe Antonio “Ipe” Remollo and some leaders of vendors association their proposal for the improvement and rehabilitation of the public market.
The students told Mayor Remollo that if the design will be followed it will transform the public market, including the bell tower, into sustainable and eco-friendly establishment that is energy efficient requiring low maintenance cost but will feature facilities such as parking entrance, food court, waiting area, government offices, playground, fruit and vegetable section, bell tower park and fish terminal, among others.
The existing public market is already 31-years-old originally designed by Architects Carlos B. Amasula and Peter A. Marvillas. But the architecture students underscore the fact that it is only a proposal which is part of their academic project and even if implemented it would not in any way involve the demolition of the basic structure but only to enhance and maximize its use being responsive to the present and future needs of the consumers and businessmen.
Mayor Remollo acknowledged the design team composed of Ronaldo D. Cabunilas Jr., Ranier T. Maranon, Reasyl Lyka E. Ada, Caryl Jane A. Verina, Calvin Gold C. Tuastomban, Agape Rubio, Roy Gibson E. Moraga, Orven John R. Quirit and their design consultant Architect Celeste Beolanguis.
Nevertheless, Mayor Remollo made it clear that any improvement in the public market must be consulted and agreed by all the stakeholders including the stall owners and vendors.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”1355,1356,1357,1358,1359,1360,1361″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
