Thousands of people troop to the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex to hear President Rodrigo Duterte as he rallied the public to support the war against illegal drugs and efforts to end the Marawi siege.

Mayor Felipe Antonio “Ipe” Remollo and Governor Roel Degamo led local officials in welcoming President Duterte Friday afternoon to grace the opening of Buglasan Festival.

Other local dignitaries in the audience were the mayors of 14 towns and cities, Vice-Governor Mark Macias, Board Members, Councilors Lilani Ramon, Karissa Tolentino, Michael Bandal, Lionel Banogon, Manuel Sagarbarria, Agustin Miguel Perdices and Community Affairs Officer Antonio J. Remollo.

Political Affairs Secretary Francis Tolentino and OPAV Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino accompanied Duterte on stage.

The intermittent rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the public as they attentively listen to President Duterte, who also conferred the Outstanding Oriental Negrense Award in the field of Science and Environment Dr. Hilconida Calumpong and to former Supreme Court Chief Justice Felix Makasiar (posthumous award) received by his daughter Cynthia Makasiar-Sikat in the field of law and jurisprudence.

Duterte was also impressed of singers Cristiani B. Rebada and Mrs. Hannah korin D. Castillo, who won as Vocal Duet of the Best Performer of the World (senior division) and vocalist of the world (junior division), that he invited them to Malacanang to showcase their talent.
